We have thoroughly investigated the issues surrounding the Freelander 1 1.8L petrol. This vehicle tends to blow it's head gasket every 30000 to 45000 kms. This will simply repeat, unless the rest of the components around the engine get changed as well. 1. New composite head gasket 2. New oil rail to stiffen engine block 3. Remote pressure relief thermostat 4. Steel dowels 5. Alarm in water system to warn of coolant loss Above is a picture of a corroded head of an 1.8L Freelander. Luckily this one could still be saved. Please make sure you use the right anti Freeze! Above is a picture of the stiffer oil rail (new) next to the old rail. |
